AAP Releases Second List of Candidates for Delhi Assembly Elections
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections on Monday. The list, unveiled by party convener Arvind Kejriwal following a key Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting, names 20 candidates, including prominent figures and new entrants. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, earlier representing Patparganj, will now contest from the Jangpura constituency. Awadh Ojha has been chosen to contest from Sisodia’s former seat in Patparganj.
Notable candidates in the list include Manish Sisodia (Jangpura), Dinesh Bhardwaj (Narela), Surendra Pal Singh Bittu (Timarpur), Mukesh Goyal (Adarsh Nagar), Rakesh Jatav Dharmarakshak (Mangolpuri), and Pradeep Mittal (Rohini). Other names include Punardeep Singh Sahni (Chandni Chowk), Parvesh Ratan (Patel Nagar), Rakhi Bidlan (Madipur), Praveen Kumar (Janakpuri), and Joginder Solanki (Palam). Prominent constituencies such as Gandhi Nagar, Shahdara, and Mustafabad will be contested by Jitendra Singh Shanti, Padmashri, and Adil Ahmed Khan, respectively.
The list reflects AAP’s strategy to rejuvenate its lineup, with 17 sitting MLAs replaced by new faces. However, stalwarts like Manish Sisodia and Rakhi Bidlan have retained their nominations, ensuring continuity. Addressing his constituency change, Sisodia remarked, “For me, Patparganj wasn’t just a constituency but a hub of education. From Patparganj to Jangpura, my resolve remains firm to serve and develop Delhi.”
AAP has intensified its election preparations. The Women’s Wing has initiated a grassroots campaign, organizing over 5,000 groups with eight members each to interact with women across all 70 constituencies. These groups aim to promote awareness about the welfare schemes launched by the AAP government, holding multiple meetings daily to ensure campaign success.
With Arvind Kejriwal leading the decision-making process, AAP’s second list underscores its intent to balance experience with fresh perspectives as it works to retain dominance in Delhi’s political landscape. The party continues to solidify its election strategy, strengthening its position ahead of the polls.
