Scholarship Payments Under Chief Minister Ladli Laxmi Yojana to Be Processed via UNIPAY
Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Nirmala Bhuria, said that in the new year, scholarships and incentive payments for eligible girls registered under the Chief Minister Ladli Laxmi Yojana will be processed through the UNIPAY system. This initiative will enable direct transfers of funds to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring a more efficient and accurate payment process. Additionally, notifications regarding the payments will be sent via SMS to the girls’ mobile phones for added transparency. The department has issued comprehensive guidelines to facilitate the implementation of this new system.
Under the Chief Minister Ladli Laxmi Yojana, scholarships are awarded to girls studying in classes 6, 9, 11, and 12, along with incentive payments for the first and final years of undergraduate courses. To date, scholarships amounting to Rs. 813.64 crore have been approved for over 29 lakh girls. Previously, these payments were processed through district offices, which often caused delays, and beneficiaries did not always receive timely notifications. With the introduction of the UNIPAY system, the payment process has become significantly more efficient and transparent, ensuring quicker disbursement and real-time notifications to the recipients.
Minister Smt. Bhuria said that the department also disburses assistance under the Ladli Behna Yojana through the UNIPAY payment portal. For this, every beneficiary’s bank account must be linked with Aadhaar and enabled for DBT. The portal, managed by MPSEDC, operates without manual intervention. The District Women and Child Development Officer generate a payment order on the MPSEDC portal. Once generated, this payment order is sent via the UNIPAY payment portal to the banking partner with the beneficiary’s Aadhaar reference number. The bank then sends the payment order to NPCI, which subsequently forwards it to the beneficiary’s respective bank..
