Lucknow : The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh is making consistent efforts to empower girls and bring qualitative improvements in education. To this end, the Meena Manch and Power Angels program has been launched in schools across the state.

The initiative aims to make girls self-reliant, enhance their leadership skills, and spread awareness about their rights in society.

The Meena Manch and Power Angels program is being implemented primarily in upper primary schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), and composite schools. To ensure effective execution, block-level facilitator workshops are being organized to train female teachers, equipping them to empower the girls studying in these schools.

Under the Special Project for Equity, the Yogi government has already allocated ₹448.89 lakh for the program. The goal is to organize two-day workshops in all blocks by March 2025. In these workshops, trained facilitators will further train two additional teachers in their respective schools to actively run Meena Manch and Power Angels activities.

The primary goal of the initiative is to build confidence and leadership skills among girls. The Meena Manch and Power Angels program focuses on providing life skills, teamwork, self-reliance, and inspiration for bringing positive changes in society.

They aim to make girls aware of their rights and responsibilities, enabling them to play an active role in societal transformation. The government’s vision is to create a better future for girls, offering opportunities for education, self-reliance, and holistic empowerment while fostering significant positive societal change.

Trained facilitators will focus on teaching leadership, confidence, and teamwork to girls while working towards strengthening their social standing. The workshops will emphasize life skills, self-esteem, and empowerment-related activities to help the girls grow holistically.

Basic Education Minister (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh stated that the government is committed to empowering girls and improving education. Through the Meena Manch and Power Angels programs, efforts are being made to make girls self-reliant and capable.

Facilitator workshops are being held at the block level, with ₹448.89 lakh allocated for the initiative. The target is to complete these workshops by March, creating awareness among girls about their rights and duties while inspiring positive societal transformation.
