Congress Government In Karnataka Completes One Year

The Congress Government yesterday ( May 20 ) in Karnataka is completing one year today. At a press conference in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that his government has fulfilled its promises to the people of the state, spending a total of ₹36,000 crores on five guarantee schemes.

He highlighted that money is being deposited directly into the accounts of 1.2 crore female heads of families without any middlemen, and free electricity is being provided to 1.6 crore people under the Griha Jyoti scheme. By the end of April, the Shakti Yojana facilitated travel for over 21.33 crore women, costing ₹4,857 crores. Additionally, ₹5,754 crores have been transferred to 4.1 crore beneficiaries under the Annabhagya Yojana.

Meanwhile, State BJP President BY Vijayendra and Leader of Opposition R. Ashok also held a joint press conference, alleging that the state government’s achievements amount to zero. They criticised the government as being anti-farmer and unjust to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, claiming that development funds have been misappropriated and central funds for projects have been withheld.
