Revanth Reddy Says BRS Has “No Future,” Predicts Two Alliances in Telangana Politics
Hyderabad, April 2026: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday launched a sharp political attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), asserting that the party has a past but no future and may not survive in the changing political landscape of the state.
Speaking informally with media personnel at the Assembly premises, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the BRS, which completed 26 years on Monday, is no longer a viable political force. Targeting the party led by former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, he used a stark analogy, stating that no amount of effort can revive something that has already lost its vitality.
Revanth Reddy also downplayed the significance of the new political outfit reportedly launched by KCR’s daughter K. Kavitha. He questioned the relevance of discussing a new party when, according to him, the future of the existing BRS itself remains uncertain. He further alleged that members of KCR’s family continue to act in coordination and are presenting a unified front despite claims to the contrary.
Projecting the future political scenario in Telangana, the Chief Minister predicted the emergence of two major alliances. He said one bloc would comprise the Congress, Left parties, and leaders like M. Kodandaram of the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), while the other would include the BRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
His remarks came on a day when Kodandaram, along with Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Azharuddin, took oath as members of the Telangana Legislative Council, signalling ongoing political realignments in the state.
Emphasising his government’s approach, Revanth Reddy claimed that the current administration does not discriminate and works for all sections of society. He even remarked that his government does not view any political entity as a strong opposition at present.
Addressing speculation about his personal stance toward KCR, the Chief Minister denied any ill will and said that the former Chief Minister’s good health is, in fact, beneficial for the ruling dispensation. Reflecting on KCR’s political journey, he said that while people tolerated his rhetoric during the Telangana statehood movement, the same style of functioning continued during his tenure in power.
He also responded to recent comments by Kavitha, who suggested that KCR had changed from his earlier political persona. Revanth Reddy said that only members of KCR’s family could truly determine whether any such change had occurred.
On governance issues, the Chief Minister addressed the recent ruling of the Telangana High Court regarding the report of the PC Ghose Commission, which investigated alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project constructed during the BRS government. He clarified that the court had not rejected the findings of the report but had only stated that action should not be taken solely on its basis.
Revanth Reddy said that further action in the matter would depend on the outcome of an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He indicated that the government would proceed in accordance with the findings of the central agency.
With his remarks, the Chief Minister signalled an aggressive political stance against the BRS while outlining his expectations for a reconfigured political landscape in Telangana in the coming years.
