Delhi Set for Grand Swearing-in of New CM at Ramlila Maidan

New Delhi: The national capital is set to welcome its new Chief Minister, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to take place at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. Preparations are in full swing to make the event grand and seamless.

According to sources, the Legislature Party meeting is set for February 19, where the new leader will be elected. Following this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stake its claim to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for February 20 at 4:30 PM at Ramlila Maidan.

Initially, the Legislature Party meeting was planned for February 17 but was later canceled. Meanwhile, large-scale arrangements are underway at Ramlila Maidan, with workers setting up tents, chairs, sofas, and mattresses to accommodate guests. Artisans are diligently working to ensure the venue is well-prepared for the grand occasion.

Massive Arrangements for the Ceremony

Sources reveal that three platforms are being constructed for the swearing-in ceremony. The main platform will be 40×24 feet, while the other two will measure 34×40 feet each. Around 150 chairs will be placed on the main stage, while an estimated 30,000 chairs will be arranged for the general public. Overall, the venue is being prepared to accommodate approximately 1.5 lakh attendees.

Former Mayor Jaiprakash, along with several BJP party workers, visited the site to assess the preparations. However, he refrained from making any official statements. Reports suggest that a crucial meeting is set for Monday evening to finalize details regarding the swearing-in and government formation. Key attendees will include Vinod Tawde, Tarun Chugh (in-charge of the ceremony), Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and senior party officials.

BJP’s Historic Victory in Delhi

The BJP secured a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, marking its return to power in the capital after 27 years. The party won 48 out of 70 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured only 22 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress failed to win a single seat, underscoring a significant shift in the political landscape of Delhi.

With all eyes on Ramlila Maidan, Delhi is gearing up for a historic moment as the BJP prepares to take charge of the state government.
