“Ajit Pawar: Ensure Seeds, Fertilizers, and Timely Loans for Farmers Amid Rains!”
Mumbai : The state has received good rains in the Konkan region, including the Pune division, while other parts are receiving moderate rains. According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, satisfactory rainfall is expected throughout the state. Following the arrival of rains, farmers have begun preparing for the sowing of kharif crops. To prevent delays in sowing due to a lack of fertilizers and seeds, it is crucial to supply the required quantities to the farmers. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed all divisional commissioners to ensure that every eligible farmer receives a crop loan.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reviewed the state’s rainfall, fertilizer and seed supply, crop loan distribution, tanker status, water storage and release planning in dams, flood control, and fodder availability today through a television system. The meeting was attended by Upper Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department Rajesh Kumar, Director of Disaster Management Lahuraj Mali, Deputy Secretary of the Agriculture Department Shri Chandwale, and others. Additionally, Pune Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Amravati Divisional Commissioner Nidhi Pandey, Nagpur Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Prasanna-Bidri, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Divisional Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Maniar, Nashik Divisional Deputy Commissioner Rani Tate, Konkan Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sanjeev Palande, and Agriculture Joint Director Raosaheb Bhabde participated via television system.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar noted that water had accumulated in various parts of Pune city during the first rains. The Municipal Corporation should take immediate measures to address this issue and plan for proper drainage during heavy rains. Some parts of the state have received 100 millimeters or more of rain. Sowing should only commence after such conditions stabilize. He emphasized that in areas with insufficient rainfall, farmers should wait for good rains before sowing, with public awareness coordinated by the Agriculture Department.
According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, rainfall will exceed the average, necessitating careful planning for water release from dams. The Water Resources Department should appoint a Coordinating Officer for inter-state dams to plan for the timely release of water. Care must be taken to prevent water from rising in cities and villages. Planning should begin now to avoid flood issues in Kolhapur city due to water from the Almatti Dam. Vigilance is also required for the Medigatta and Gosikhurd dams to prevent flooding in Gadchiroli district.
With good rainfall, systems should be vigilant about waterlogging, uncontrolled discharge, and flooding. In case of flooding, citizens should be alerted through the District Collector. Efforts should be made to provide timely relief and rehabilitation. The Water Resources Department should plan the release of water from dams properly and maintain coordination with other systems. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also directed banks to ensure timely availability of crop loans to farmers.
The Divisional Commissioners presented plans for rainfall, water storage in dams, and the Kharif season in their respective divisions. Pune Divisional Commissioner Shri Pulkundwar also provided information about the planning for Ashadhi Vari. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instructed that the sanctioned funds for Ashadhi Wari be distributed immediately.
