MoU executed between Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commissions

On the third day of the 31st National Conference of State Election Commissioners, an MoU was executed between Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission and Jammu & Kashmir State Election Commission. Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission will assist in bolstering the process of urban body elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir. National and international experts gave presentation in the National Conference.

Under the MoU, Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission will provide 7 thousand EVMs and other equipment in the upcoming urban body elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir as well as provide training to the polling staff. Apart from this, the efforts will be made to implement the innovations made in Madhya Pradesh in Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, it will help in adopting the process of paperless booth at selected booths as a pilot project. In the presence of State Election Commissioner Shri Manoj Srivastava, the MoU was signed by Secretary Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission Shri Abhishek Singh and Secretary Jammu & Kashmir State Election Commission Shri Sushil Kumar. Secretary Shri Sushil Kumar thanked the State Election Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh for this MoU. He said that now it will help in conducting smooth urban body elections in our state.

Subject experts gave presentations in front of State Election Commissioners

In the 31st National Conference of State Election Commissioners held at Pench National Park, Seoni, presentations were given by subject experts from India and abroad on various topics related to smooth and convenient elections. Shri Arvind Venkataraman, Director of ICPS (International Centre for Parliamentary Studies) London, expressed his views on the topic of “Recognising India’s role as a global leader in elections and electoral diplomacy”. He highlighted the process of using electoral manager, AI tools like e-learning and blockchain for simplification of election process in a country with a large democratic system like India. Sales Director APAC Turkey Shri Mehmet Burak gave his presentation on the action plan for remote voter registration and online voting. He gave information on the process of voter registration through digital process and identification of voters through biometrics. He also told about the process of conducting online voting in a safe, convenient and transparent manner. A demo of voter registration application in Canada, Benin was also given. Research scholars Shri Pranav Gupta and Anustubh Agnihotri of University of Warkalli, Califonia gave a presentation on research in local elections.

Representatives of Electronics Corporation India Limited, Bharat Electronics, IIT Limited Bangalore, institutions which provide EVMs, software and other support for conducting smooth, convenient and transparent elections in the country, gave their presentation before the State Election Commissioners about the research being conducted in elections. In particular, the work process and benefits of using the new S-3 EVM, Election Management System were highlighted. Similarly, CEO of INCT Chennai Shri Gajapathi gave a presentation regarding various applications used in polling and counting. Representatives of companies from Hyderabad and Jaipur gave presentations regarding indelible ink and other election related material. State Election Commissioners of various states participated in the discussion. They observed the model of paperless booth of Madhya Pradesh.
