In Assembly session, BJP MLAs & Ministers did nothing but hurl abuses at AAP; People elected them to work, not to curse: Atishi

As the March 8 deadline approaches, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is under fire for failing to deliver on its promise of giving ₹2,500 to the women of Delhi. Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi, after exiting the Assembly, slammed the BJP for only engaging in hurling abuses at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over governance.

The Delhi LoP pointed out that BJP ministers and MLAs have wasted four days of the Assembly session on cursing the AAP instead of addressing the people’s concerns. With women now demanding answers, Atishi made it clear: the BJP must stop the blame game and take responsibility.

During a media interaction, Delhi LoP Atishi stated that the Assembly has been in session for four days. In these four days, 55 BJP MLAs have spoken. The Assembly runs on taxpayers’ money, and every day, lakhs of rupees are spent on its proceedings. “However, the only agenda of BJP MLAs and ministers has been to hurl abuses at the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. They have done nothing beyond that. They have called Arvind Kejriwal a liar, a thief, and the AAP incompetent, arrogant, and hooligans. There is no unparliamentary term that they have not used in the Assembly,” pointed the Delhi LoP.

She said, “I want to tell the BJP that they can abuse us as much as they want, but the people of Delhi did not elect them for this. The people of Delhi elected them to work. In these four days of the Assembly session, lakhs of rupees of taxpayers’ money have been spent, but the BJP has not spoken a word about governance.”

Atishi highlighted that the BJP and PM Modi had promised that in their first cabinet meeting, they would approve the ₹2,500 scheme for women. PM Modi had guaranteed that on March 8, every woman in Delhi would receive the first installment of ₹2,500. “Today is March 3, and only five days remain until March 8. Will the BJP ensure ₹2,500 for every woman in Delhi in the next five days? The moment we raised this issue in the Assembly, BJP MLAs and the Speaker became agitated. Our microphones were turned off, and we were thrown out of the Assembly,” she asserted.

The Delhi LoP further said, “The BJP’s frustration clearly shows that they have no intention of giving ₹2,500 to Delhi’s women. PM Modi’s guarantee that the scheme would be passed in the first cabinet meeting has already been proven false. It is now evident that the BJP has no plan to transfer ₹2,500 on March 8.”

Atishi affirmed, 0We need action, not excuses. The people of Delhi voted for the BJP to fulfill its promises. Will the BJP spend the next five years just abusing the AAP? They have already wasted four days doing so, squandering taxpayers’ money. We fold our hands and urge the BJP to fulfill its promise and transfer ₹2,500 to Delhi’s women by March 8. Women are visiting our office, asking when they will receive the money. The BJP must take responsibility and provide answers.”
