Decision to Build Maratha Valor Memorial in Panipat – Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar
Mumbai : The government has decided to construct a Maratha Valor Memorial in the Kala Amb area of Panipat to commemorate and honor the historic bravery of the Maratha Empire, announced Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar.
Minister Shelar stated that on January 14, 2025, marking 354 years of the Third Battle of Panipat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had pledged to establish this memorial. He emphasized that the Maratha Empire extended its influence across various regions of India during the 17th and 18th centuries, leaving behind many historic sites that bear witness to their valor.
To expand the Kala Amb Memorial, the required land will be acquired, and a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be erected, Minister Shelar confirmed. Additionally, the site will feature: A grand museum showcasing Maratha valor

He assured that there will be no shortage of funds for this project.
To coordinate with the Haryana government, Minister Jaykumar Rawal will act as the liaison, while the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will oversee land acquisition. The Tourism Department will serve as the nodal agency for the project.
A committee of historians will also be formed under the chairmanship of the Tourism Minister to ensure historical accuracy and significance. Minister Shelar emphasized that this memorial will preserve the legacy of Maratha bravery and educate future generations about their glorious history.
