Efforts to Strengthen Public Transport in the District – Guardian Minister Sanjay Rathod
Guardian Minister Inaugurates New Buses
Yavatmal : Under the efforts of Guardian Minister Sanjay Rathod, a total of 90 new ST buses have been allocated to nine depots in the district, with each depot receiving 10 buses. As part of the first phase, five buses each were assigned to Yavatmal and Umarkhed depots today. These buses were inaugurated at Yavatmal Bus Station by Minister Rathod, who emphasized his commitment to strengthening the public transportation system in the district.

Minister Rathod stated that State Transport Corporation buses are the lifeline of Maharashtra, particularly in rural areas, where they remain the primary mode of transportation. Given that many buses serving the district were old and insufficient, he had requested the Transport Minister to allocate new buses for the region. Responding to this appeal, the state government has sanctioned 10 new buses in the first phase, with five each for Umarkhed and Yavatmal depots.
The inauguration ceremony at the Yavatmal depot was attended by MLA Balasaheb Mangulkar, Depot Manager Chhagan Divse, Mechanical Engineer Narsing Chavan, Divisional Transport Officer Dadarav Darade, along with transport department officials, staff, and passengers. The new buses were formally dedicated to public service by cutting the ribbon.
Minister Rathod reaffirmed that ST Corporation buses continue to be the backbone of rural transportation and strengthening this system remains a top priority. He mentioned that he had been persistently urging the Transport Minister to provide more buses, leading to the allocation of 10 buses today. Additionally, all nine depots in the district will receive 10 new buses each, totaling 90 buses. The remaining buses will be delivered soon, ensuring improved connectivity and convenience for passengers across the district.
