State-Level Chief Minister’s Inventors Challenge Organized

Aizawl – The Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council (MISTIC), under the Directorate of Science & Technology and the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, organized the State-Level Chief Minister’s Inventors Challenge today at the Innovation Facility Centre (IFC), MINECO. The initiative aims to promote innovation and invention by providing a platform for individuals to showcase their creations that address real-world needs effectively. Selected participants will receive Handholding Support (Seed Fund) to develop and implement their ideas.

The state-level competition was inaugurated at 10:30 AM, with Dr. K.C. Lalmalsawmzauva, Adviser to the Chief Minister (Handholding), as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Er. H. Lalsawmliana, Chief Scientific Officer & Member Secretary of MISTIC.

In his address, Dr. K.C. Lalmalsawmzauva emphasized the importance of science and technology in Mizoram’s development. He highlighted that technological advancements have the potential to accelerate progress, and innovative thinkers play a crucial role in bringing transformative changes. He encouraged Mizo innovators to create solutions tailored to the state’s needs, emphasizing that Mizoram’s growth depends on locally developed technologies. He also appreciated the continuous progress of technology innovation in Mizoram.

The event was attended by key officials from the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Research & Development Board, Mizoram Remote Sensing Application Centre, Mizoram Science Centre, Directorate of Science & Technology, and the Directorate of Economics & Statistics.

The competition is divided into two main categories: Hardware and Software. It features an Open Category for all individuals interested in participating, as well as a Higher Educational Institutions Category, specifically for college students. A total of 30 participants from various districts competed at the State-Level Chief Minister’s Inventors Challenge.

The Chief Minister’s Inventors Challenge is part of the Mizoram Bana Kaih (Handholding) Scheme. The competition was initially held at the district level from March 11-17, 2025, with winners advancing to the state-level competition. The final results will be officially announced by the Chief Minister at Vanapa Hall on March 28, 2025.
