Farmers Embrace Advanced Technology, Adopt Paddy Transplanter for Rice Cultivation

Raipur, July 2026 : Farmers in Chhattisgarh are increasingly adopting advanced agricultural technologies, with paddy transplanters replacing traditional methods of rice transplantation. Supported by the Agriculture Department and various government schemes, farmers in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district are using paddy transplanters to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase crop yields.

During the current Kharif season, progressive farmers Lekhram Sahu and Bahoran Sahu from Sakri (S) village in Palari development block have adopted the paddy transplanter method for transplanting paddy in their fields.

Sharing his experience, farmer Lekhram Sahu said that earlier, manual transplantation by labourers used to take two to three days, with costs ranging between ₹5,000 and ₹6,000 per acre. With the paddy transplanter, however, one acre can now be transplanted in just two to three hours, reducing the overall cost by nearly ₹2,000 per acre.

He also noted that planting in straight rows has improved crop growth, resulting in healthier and more uniform plants.

Officials from the Agriculture Department stated that maintaining proper spacing between plants and rows, along with transplanting seedlings that are 12 to 15 days old, helps improve productivity while reducing the incidence of pests and diseases.

According to the department, adopting this scientific method of paddy transplantation can increase rice production by 15 to 20 percent, making it a cost-effective and sustainable farming practice for the state’s farmers.
