Chief Secretary Reviews Safe Motherhood Services, Calls for Stronger Digital Tracking of High-Risk Pregnancies

Jaipur, July 2026: Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Health Bhawan to strengthen safe motherhood services and improve the digital referral management system for pregnant women across the state. The meeting, held via video conference, reviewed maternal healthcare services, monitoring of high-risk pregnancies, referral management, digital tracking systems, and the preparedness of government hospitals providing delivery services.

The Chief Secretary reviewed all caesarean deliveries and high-risk pregnancy cases reported across government hospitals in the previous 24 hours by interacting directly with officials and frontline healthcare workers. Officials informed him that all high-risk deliveries during the period were conducted safely. He directed the Medical and Health Department and field health workers to maintain continuous monitoring of all admitted mothers to ensure quality maternal care.

During the meeting, Srinivas also interacted directly with Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) from Jaipur, Churu, and Jhunjhunu districts. He instructed them to ensure regular follow-up of high-risk pregnant women, closely monitor expected delivery dates, provide timely medical consultations, and facilitate immediate referrals whenever required.

Reviewing the functioning of the “Setu Digital Emergency Healthcare Software” developed by RNT Medical College, the Chief Secretary directed the Medical and Health Department, in collaboration with the Information Technology Department, to develop a similar integrated digital platform. He said the system should be made available to ANMs, Community Health Officers (CHOs), and other field healthcare personnel to enable real-time tracking of pregnant women and strengthen referral management across the state.

He also reviewed the availability of medicines and medical equipment in hospitals with officials of the Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited (RMSCL) and assessed inventory management systems. Additionally, he instructed officials to prepare standardized protocols for microbiology services and issue Records of Procedure (ROP) to ensure uniform, high-quality healthcare services across all medical institutions.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the need to establish a dedicated state-level control room for the rapid monitoring of safe motherhood services and delivery-related cases. He said such a facility would enable continuous state-level monitoring of every pregnant woman and new mother, allowing authorities to take prompt decisions whenever necessary.

Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore, directed officials to implement the proposed system at the earliest. She stressed the importance of continuing daily review meetings through video conferencing from the state headquarters to the field level and ensuring regular collection, analysis, and monitoring of health data related to every pregnant woman and mother.

The meeting was attended by NHM Mission Director Dr Jogaram, Medical Education Commissioner Babulal Goyal, RMSCL Managing Director Pukhraj Sain, SMS Medical College Principal Dr Deepak Maheshwari, Director of Public Health Dr Ravi Prakash Sharma, Additional NHM Mission Director Dr T. Shubhamangala, RCH Director Dr Madhu Rateshwar, senior departmental officials, principals and specialists from all medical colleges, divisional joint directors, Chief Medical and Health Officers (CMHOs), Principal Medical Officers (PMOs), Block Chief Medical Officers (BCMOs), and other concerned officials.
