Prepare a Comprehensive Plan to Strengthen Power Supply in Jalna District: Minister of State for Energy Meghana Sakore-Bordikar

Mumbai, July 2026 : Minister of State for Energy Meghana Sakore-Bordikar has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to strengthen the electricity distribution network in Jalna district, ensuring reliable and adequate power supply to farmers, domestic consumers, commercial establishments, and industries.

Chairing a review meeting on pending issues related to the Energy Department in Jalna district, the Minister instructed officials to undertake detailed planning and prepare a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) based on future power demand and the district’s growing electricity requirements.

The meeting was attended by MLA Arjun Khotkar, MLA Hikmat Udhan, while MLA Narayan Kuche and MLA Santosh Danve participated through video conferencing. Senior officials of the Energy Department were also present.

Addressing the meeting, Sakore-Bordikar said there is no shortage of electricity for agricultural pumps, and farmers are receiving the stipulated eight hours of power supply in accordance with existing norms.

She explained that special-design transformers are being installed at substations to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to domestic consumers connected to agricultural pump feeders. This arrangement enables separate power supply for agricultural pumps while maintaining adequate electricity for households.

The Minister acknowledged that certain technical issues, such as single-phasing, persist in some areas but assured that these are being addressed on priority. She warned that if such technical problems are not resolved within the prescribed timeframe, the Chief Engineers concerned will be held directly accountable.

Sakore-Bordikar further stated that there is no shortage of transformers or transformer oil required for replacement and maintenance works.

To make the replacement process faster and more transparent, the Energy Department launched an online system on April 1 for registering failed transformers and processing their replacement. The digital platform is expected to significantly reduce delays in replacing damaged transformers, thereby improving service delivery to farmers and electricity consumers.

The Minister directed officials to give priority to resolving issues raised by public representatives regarding electricity supply in Jalna district. She instructed them to immediately remove technical bottlenecks and ensure prompt implementation of corrective measures.

She also asked the department to regularly share information about various initiatives and development works undertaken by the Energy Department with elected representatives to improve coordination and transparency.

During the meeting, legislators highlighted several issues affecting electricity consumers in the district, including the need for additional substations, frequent power outages, strengthening of village feeders, timely replacement of transformers, and other infrastructure-related concerns.

The Minister assured that all issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner through better planning and coordinated action, with the objective of creating a more robust and reliable power distribution system across Jalna district.
