Review Meeting of PWD: Focus on Green Buildings with High Quality and Low Maintenance — Deputy CM Disha Kumari

Jaipur : Deputy Chief Minister Disha Kumari has directed that special attention be given to solar energy and water conservation in building construction. She emphasized that new buildings should be designed with high quality and low maintenance in mind. She also stated that the focus in building construction should be on green buildings to ensure environmental protection. The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a review meeting on the progress of the Public Works Department’s building construction branch held at the Deputy Chief Minister’s office on Thursday.

She instructed that the Public Works Department (PWD) should maintain the original form of temples and other heritage sites during their restoration work. She explained that these temples and heritage sites were constructed years ago using local materials and craftsmanship, and during their restoration, the same materials and craftsmanship should be preserved. She further directed that for such restoration works, the advice of a conservation consultant should be sought to ensure the preservation of the buildings’ original form.

The Deputy Chief Minister also suggested that a special plan should be formulated and implemented to improve the condition of the rest houses (Dak Bungalows). She instructed the preparation of a detailed plan for the upgradation and maintenance of rest houses in the state.

Present at the meeting were Additional Chief Secretary of Public Works Department Praveen Gupta, Secretary of PWD D.R. Meghwal, and other concerned officials from the department.
