Prabhsimran Blazes, Arshdeep Dazzles as PBKS Crush LSG by 37 Runs

Dharamshala – Punjab Kings’ journey in IPL 2025 reached new heights on Sunday as they overpowered Lucknow Super Giants by 37 runs at the HPCA Stadium, thanks to Prabhsimran Singh’s explosive 91 and Arshdeep Singh’s powerplay masterclass.

Batting first, Punjab made their intentions clear with an aggressive start. Josh Inglis provided early fireworks with a 14-ball 30, but it was the third-wicket stand between Prabhsimran and Shreyas Iyer that turned the tide in PBKS’s favour. Iyer’s 45 off 25 was filled with finesse, while Prabhsimran went full throttle, anchoring the innings while unleashing an array of strokes. Together, they stitched a crucial 78-run partnership before Iyer departed.

As the innings progressed, Shashank Singh added the finishing touches with an unbeaten 33 off just 15 balls, taking Punjab to a massive 236/5. For LSG, Akash Singh (2/30) and Digvesh Rathi (2/46) were the notable wicket-takers but were largely ineffective in containing the run flow.

In reply, LSG were rocked early by Arshdeep Singh’s sensational spell. In the third over, he removed both Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram—Marsh caught in the deep and Markram bowled off an inside edge. Arshdeep’s delivery to Pooran, which swung in late and trapped him lbw, was a peach. By the end of the powerplay, LSG had crumbled to 38/3, and their chase looked in tatters.

Rishabh Pant, attempting to steady the ship, struck a few boundaries but fell for 18, losing control of his bat and his shot simultaneously. Omarzai then dismissed David Miller, leaving LSG five down for just 73.

Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad revived some hope with a stunning counterattack. Their sixth-wicket stand brought 81 runs in quick time, with Samad slamming two sixes off Chahal and a few more off Stoinis. He finally fell to a caught-and-bowled by Jansen after scoring 45 from 24 balls.

Badoni, however, played a smart, spirited innings. His 40-ball 74 included some audacious shots, and he brought up his half-century with a clean six off Vyshak. But just as he looked to push further, he miscued Chahal to short third man.

Despite their efforts, LSG finished at 199/7—falling well short of the target, but saving their net run rate from further damage.

Shreyas Iyer lauded his side’s performance in the post-match interaction. “We were outstanding today. Everyone knows their role and backs themselves. Prabhsimran’s innings was a standout. We’ve been consistent, and that reflects in our position on the table.”

With this win, PBKS rise to second place with 15 points, while LSG are now in seventh with 10 points and must win their remaining games to stay in playoff contention.
