Salute to the Silent Heroine of Motherhood: Deputy CM Diya Kumari Honours Suwa Dai Maa on Mother’s Day in Kotdi Village, Ajmer

Jaipur — On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari paid a heartfelt tribute to 85-year-old Suwa Dai Maa in Kotdi village, Rupangarh, Ajmer, honouring her selfless service spanning over six decades. Suwa Dai Maa has safely delivered more than 2,800 babies, becoming a living symbol of sacrifice, devotion, and motherhood.
Suwa Dai Maa began her service at the young age of 24, during a time when rural villages lacked basic facilities such as electricity, medical infrastructure, and sanitation. Her first delivery was that of Meera Devi, who is now 61 years old. Even today, Suwa Dai Maa continues to serve the women of Kotdi, Jhakholai, Bherwai, and Karadala villages, assisting with childbirth and providing advice on pregnancy, nutrition, hygiene, and postpartum care. Despite the availability of modern healthcare, many women still trust her unwaveringly.
At the felicitation ceremony, Deputy CM Diya Kumari said, “Suwa Dai Maa is a living embodiment of selflessness, dedication, and maternal grace. Her life story proves that real heroes work away from the spotlight, leaving an indelible mark on society through their actions.” She emphasized that every mother should feel proud to see such an unsung heroine honored on Mother’s Day. “Suwa Dai Maa has dedicated more than 60 years of her life to the service of motherhood—delivering babies, nurturing them with love and care, and offering hope through her compassion,” she said.
Recalling the challenges of the past, Diya Kumari added, “When villages had no electricity, hospitals were far away, and resources were scarce, Suwa Dai Maa performed hundreds of deliveries under the dim light of wooden lamps, using boiled water for hygiene, and staying awake through the nights. This was not just a courageous act, but a true form of motherhood—a powerful force of society. Remarkably, she never accepted money for her services.”
She further remarked that Suwa Dai Maa sends a powerful message that daughters are second to none. “Every woman holds within her a strength that must be recognized and respected,” the Deputy CM said. “This Mother’s Day, let us all draw inspiration from Suwa Dai Maa and resolve to honour the maternal power around us, preserve their stories, and pass their legacy on to future generations.”
Kamla Mali from Manthan Sanstha presented a bouquet to the Deputy CM as a gesture of welcome.
