Gaza Government Has Been Dissolved By The Hamas In A Bid To Facilitate The Entry Of US Technocrats.

Gaza, Palestine; July 2026: Yesterday (Monday – 06th July 2026), Gaza’s government has announced the resignation of its Emergency Committee that oversees the besieged enclave, in a bid to facilitate the handover of authority to a US-endorsed technocratic committee and to “demonstrate its seriousness” in implementing the ceasefire, which has been attributed by the Israeli authorities as a ‘symbolic one’.

The Gaza Strip’s long-standing governing body said in a statement that all civil servants shall continue their work, calling them ‘public employees who are ready to work under the responsibility of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG)’. The government has also asserted that all the necessary administrative measures for the transfer of power have been completed.

Mohammad al-Farra, head of the Emergency Committee, has “decided to submit his official resignation from his position and to announce the dissolution of the Government Emergency Committee”, the Gaza Government Media Office announced. The statement called it “a demonstration of the seriousness of these measures, in implementation of the agreed arrangements, and to facilitate the administrative transition process”.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem while commenting on the developments have said: “Hamas has taken a new step in that it will no longer be in charge of the Gaza Strip, in order to remove any pretexts for the occupation, which continues its aggression and war of extermination”. He has added that Hamas hopes for the “swift entry” of the NCAG and “affirms its readiness to hand over governmental responsibilities to the committee to ensure its success”.

It is noteworthy that the NCAG is a Palestinian committee of technocrats endorsed by Washington but rejected by Tel Aviv for its links to the Palestinian Authority (PA). The current Israeli government has been strangling the PA financially, despite Ramallah’s close ties with Israeli intelligence and security services, and its efforts in cracking down on West Bank resistance on behalf of Tel Aviv.

Israel has not yet allowed the NCAG, headed by Ali Shaath, to enter Gaza. This committee’s aspirations of a governing role in Gaza were included in US President Donald Trump’s so-called peace plan for the strip in 2025. According to President Donald Trump’s plan, this would pave the way for a return of the PA to Gaza – dependent on specific reforms. But Israel has rejected such an idea.

In January this year (2026), Israel had denied entry to the committee to enter Gaza and prepare to begin its work as part of the October 2025 deal, in which Trump had established a ‘Board of Peace’. This board has so far failed to end the Israeli genocide in Gaza and has allowed for over 1,000 Palestinians to be killed by Israel since October last year (2025), on the contrary has allowed Israel to expand its occupation of the strip.

On 04th of July this year the Israeli officials have reiterated that Israel expects the US-led Board of Peace to issue a determination within the next 02 to 03 months claiming that Hamas has violated the ceasefire agreement by refusing to disarm. Such a determination could pave the way for Israel to renew military operations in the parts of Gaza that are not currently occupied by Israeli forces.

Another recent Israeli report claims Hamas is rearming at an alarming pace and that Tel Aviv must resume all-out war and genocide against the strip. Israeli military officers have told Israel’s chief of staff that Hamas is ‘strong on the ground’ and is ‘unwilling to give up control of Gaza’, Israel’s Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) reported in late June.

The Palestinian resistance, including Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, has refused to surrender its weapons as stipulated in Trump’s plan. Hamas has demanded the achievement of an independent Palestinian state in exchange for any discussion on its arms.
