“Chief Minister Shinde Unveils ‘Dharmaveer 2’: A Tribute to Ideals and Legacy”
MUMBAI: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde marked his two-year tenure milestone by unveiling the poster of “Dharmaveer 2” on Sunday, featuring the tagline ‘Traitors of Hindutva will not be spared’. This tagline is seen as a direct jibe at the Shiv Sena (UBT), whose recent success in the Lok Sabha elections has been dismissed by the Shinde-led Sena and BJP, attributing it to Muslim votes.
The film is strategically slated for release ahead of the state assembly polls, with the chosen date being August 9, coinciding with the anniversary of the Quit India movement. The unveiling ceremony for the sequel’s banner took place at the CM’s official residence, Varsha, with Bobby Deol as the chief guest and veteran actor Ashok Saraf as the guest of honor.
The first installment of “Dharmaveer” portrayed Shiv Sena Thane chief Anand Dighe, positioning Shinde as his successor. It attempted to justify Shinde’s breakaway from the original Shiv Sena and his “rebellion” against then CM Uddhav Thackeray.
Addressing the gathering, Shinde paid tribute to his mentor Dighe, highlighting his commitment to public service. He also invoked the legacy of Bal Thackeray, the founder of Shiv Sena, emphasizing the party’s ethos of selfless dedication. “We will always uphold the principles of Balasaheb,” he affirmed.
