Nutrition and Primary Health Services to be Provided in Remote Areas Through 38 New Anganwadis – Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare
Mumbai : Under the Prime Minister’s Tribal Justice Mega Campaign, approval has been granted to start 38 new Anganwadi centers in remote areas. Earlier, 145 Anganwadis had been approved and completed, which will help provide nutrition and health services to children and pregnant women in these hard-to-reach regions, informed Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare through a press release.
Various schemes are being implemented through this campaign for the overall development of tribal communities. The population criteria for starting Anganwadis in remote areas have been relaxed, and Anganwadis will now be started in areas with a population of 100. This will enable the provision of nutrition and primary health services to tribal brethren through these Anganwadi centers.
Under the Prime Minister’s Tribal Justice Mega Campaign, each of the 38 newly established Anganwadi centers for vulnerable tribal groups in the state will be staffed with one Anganwadi worker and one assistant. Honorariums, administrative expenses, nutrition food, Anganwadi rent, and uniforms will be provided by the state and central governments. The total of 183 Anganwadis — including the previously established 145 and the new 38 centers — are being set up in the districts of Gadchiroli, Nanded, Nashik, Palghar, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Thane, and Yavatmal, the minister added.
