Pakistan PM Confirms India’s BrahMos Strikes on Multiple Targets, Including Rawalpindi Airport
Islamabad – In a significant revelation, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has publicly admitted that India launched missile strikes on multiple locations inside Pakistan, including Rawalpindi airport, using BrahMos missiles under Operation Sindoor. The strikes took place in the early hours of May 10, reportedly in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.
During a speech in Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Sharif stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces were prepared to retaliate at 4:30 a.m., following Fajr prayers, but India acted first. “On the night of May 9-10, we had decided to respond to Indian aggression in a restrained way. Our forces were ready to act at 4:30 a.m., but even before that, India launched missile attacks targeting several provinces, including Rawalpindi airport,” he said, according to media reports.
Sharif’s statement marks the second public acknowledgment of the Indian strikes. Earlier this month, while speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, he confirmed that Indian missiles hit the Noor Khan airbase and other critical locations. Recalling the incident, he said, “At around 2:30 a.m. on May 10, I received a secure call from Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, who informed me that India had launched missile strikes. One missile fell on Noor Khan airbase and others landed in various areas.”
India’s Operation Sindoor is believed to be a precision military response aimed at destroying terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The covert nature and accuracy of the strikes have raised serious questions about Pakistan’s air defence capabilities, as even its own leadership has acknowledged the lack of immediate military response.
The repeated admissions from Pakistan’s top leadership reflect the significant damage caused and the strategic surprise India achieved. Analysts suggest that this development could escalate tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations, even as it highlights India’s shift toward more assertive and targeted military action against cross-border terrorism.
