Rani Ahilyabai: A Living Symbol of Women Empowerment, Says Minister Rajwade

Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade Highlights Ahilyabai Holkar’s Legacy on Her 300th Birth Anniversary

Raipur : On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, a grand celebration was organized at the Surajpur district auditorium under the chief guestship of Minister for Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Mrs. Lakshmi Rajwade. Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Rajwade conveyed her best wishes to the people of Chhattisgarh and hailed the life and deeds of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar as an enduring source of inspiration for women’s empowerment.

Mrs. Rajwade stated that Rani Ahilyabai never gave up in the face of adversity and remained dedicated to the welfare of her subjects throughout her life. She dug ponds to tackle water scarcity, extended help to the poor, and transformed governance into a vehicle for public service. She bravely confronted enemies and upheld justice, dharma, and service as the pillars of her administration.

The minister also emphasized that Rani Ahilyabai championed the right of women to participate in decision-making and encouraged the education of widows and women from marginalized communities. Through her life, she demonstrated that a woman is not only a symbol of endurance but also a bearer of leadership, awareness, and transformation. Mrs. Rajwade added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai continue to draw inspiration from Rani Ahilyabai as they work toward the welfare of society and the nation. She underlined that Ahilyabai clearly understood that a society cannot progress without the participation and education of women.

A felicitation ceremony was also held on this occasion. The Jai Durga Self-Help Group was awarded a certificate of appreciation for their contribution to door-to-door garbage collection and the Swachh Bharat Mission. Mrs. Madhuri Bhandari was honored for her outstanding work under the National Rural Livelihood Mission. Additionally, several health department workers were recognized for their service.

Minister Rajwade also participated in the tricentennial celebrations held at the cultural center in Bhatgaon. The event was attended by prominent citizens of the district, including District Panchayat President Mrs. Chandramani Paikara, Vice President Mrs. Rekha Rajwade, members Mrs. Nayan Sidar and Mrs. Kusum Singh, Mr. Bhimsen Agrawal, Red Cross District President Mr. Babulal Agrawal, Mr. Murli Manohar Soni, elected representatives, government officials, and staff.
