CM Dhami Calls for Inclusive Development to Build a Developed Uttarakhand
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday directed district officials to ensure that development efforts in Uttarakhand focus on integrating the most marginalized sections of society into the mainstream. Speaking during a virtual meeting with all District Magistrates from his official residence, the Chief Minister emphasized preparing a detailed plan from the village to the district level for building a “Developed Uttarakhand” by 2047, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India.
He urged officials to actively reach out to people at the grassroots and connect them with public welfare schemes, ensuring no one is left behind. The CM stressed the need to work rapidly in all sectors to meet the targets set for 2047.
55 Innovations in Every District
CM Dhami instructed District Magistrates to implement 55 best practices and innovations aimed at public welfare in each district. He announced that the first three districts to become TB-free would be rewarded. He also directed all districts to conduct regular cleanliness drives and launch a large-scale tree plantation campaign from June 5 (World Environment Day) to July 25. The “One Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative should be specially promoted, alongside a public awareness campaign for a plastic-free Uttarakhand.
Focus on Water Sources and Monsoon Preparedness
The Chief Minister called for regular monitoring of water source conservation and Amrit Sarovar development, with nodal officers to be appointed in every district. In view of the upcoming monsoon season, he instructed all departments to ensure adequate preparedness. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted above-average rainfall, and drainage systems must be cleaned before the monsoon begins. Adequate drinking water, electricity, and road maintenance must be ensured, and water tanks kept clean.
Health and Disaster Management Readiness
CM Dhami asked for all preventive measures against dengue, malaria, and COVID-19 to be strictly implemented. He called for checks of facilities in all hospitals. Disaster management systems in every district must remain on alert, and toll-free helpline numbers should be active in all districts and tehsils for citizens to access emergency services. Special vigilance and preparedness must be ensured on the Char Dham Yatra route, including improved traffic, health, and security arrangements. A special drive should be carried out to remove illegal encroachments along roadways.
Yoga Day, Verification Drives, and Local Economy Focus
The Chief Minister called for widespread awareness campaigns and large-scale yoga camps across districts ahead of International Yoga Day. He also directed officials to make special traffic and temporary parking arrangements for the Kainchi Dham Foundation Day on June 15. Verification drives must be intensified and made more effective, especially against fake Aadhaar, Ayushman, and ration cards. A continuous and strict campaign must be run against such irregularities.
Government offices should prominently display boards and banners related to the 1064 anti-corruption helpline to raise awareness about a corruption-free Uttarakhand. Local and indigenous products must be promoted actively under the “One District, Two Products” scheme, and government events should prioritize the use of these local goods.
The CM also instructed regular review of announcements made by the Chief Minister, with special attention to the status of land banks in each district. Efforts must be intensified toward rainwater harvesting. Additionally, all possible protective measures should be taken for effective forest fire management.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat (virtually), and all District Magistrates. The meeting was convened by the Department of Information and Public Relations.
