Small Steps, Big Dreams: How Hindeshwari Became a Successful Entrepreneur Through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana
Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government’s welfare-oriented Mahtari Vandan Yojana has brought new energy and confidence into the lives of countless women across the state. One such inspiring story is that of Mrs. Hindeshwari Indu Raje from Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, who overcame hardships and took bold steps towards self-reliance with the help of this scheme.
Having earlier served as a Mitanin (community health worker), Hindeshwari faced financial difficulties after stepping away from her role. However, the monthly financial support of ₹1,000 provided under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana became a ray of hope. Saving this amount with her mother, Mrs. Usha Devi, she began a small hotel business. Starting modestly with a few tables, chairs, and utensils, she laid the foundation for her venture. Over time, she expanded her business, and today, her family is financially stable and secure.
Mrs. Hindeshwari credits this transformation to the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the state government for empowering women like her.
Empowering Women Across Chhattisgarh
Launched on March 10, 2024, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has disbursed ₹10,433.64 crore over the last 16 months directly into the accounts of women in the state. Married, widowed, divorced, and abandoned women between the ages of 21 and 60 are regularly receiving this financial aid. The scheme has evolved beyond mere financial support — it has become a solid foundation for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship. Like Hindeshwari, countless women are now starting their own businesses and becoming role models for others across the state.
