Over 200 Female Engineering Students Participate in Online Induction for RUIDP’s Women Internship Program
Jaipur : The Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) organized an online induction program for engineering students participating in its Women Internship Program. Chaired by Project Director Mr. Piyush Samariya, the session was attended by over 200 interns from Jaipur and more than 15 other project cities via video conferencing.
In his address, Mr. Samariya described the Women Internship Program as a landmark initiative by RUIDP, earning a special status among projects funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He emphasized that the internship gives female students in the engineering stream a valuable opportunity to work on and understand urban infrastructure projects of national and international standards. Encouraging the interns to make the most of the opportunity, he urged them to be curious, ask questions, and maximize their learning experience.
Dr. Hemant Kumar Sharma, Additional Project Director-II, called the internship a flagship program of the project, highly appreciated by the ADB. He stated that the aim is to increase the participation of women engineers in the urban sector. Financial Advisor Mrs. Jigyasa Gaur described the internship as a meaningful step towards women empowerment and praised the CAP team for their role in its successful implementation.
Project Officer Mr. Shiv Ratan Pareek thanked all participants and encouraged the interns to dedicate themselves to the internship with hard work and sincerity. Former interns also shared their experiences during the session.
Mr. Babulal Sharma, CAP Team Leader, presented a progress report on the Women Internship Program. Mr. Rakesh Nath Tiwari, Training Expert, outlined the six-week internship structure in detail.
Other key participants included Additional Project Director-I Mr. D.K. Meena, Additional Chief Engineer Mr. K.K. Natani, Deputy Project Director (Admin & Technical) Mr. Kapil Gupta, along with Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, and representatives from consultancy firms affiliated with the Project Implementation Units (PIUs).
Notably, under the Gender Action Plan of RUIDP Phase IV, the Women Internship Program aims to provide internships to 1,000 female students studying engineering and project-related disciplines. Upon successful completion, each intern receives a stipend of ₹24,000 and a certificate of completion.
