With Everyone’s Support, We Will Work Towards a Developed Maharashtra – Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar
Mumbai : Maharashtra is a progressive state in every field, and as the 49th Chief Secretary of the state, I will work towards realizing the vision of a Developed Maharashtra by 2047 with everyone’s cooperation, said Rajesh Kumar, newly appointed Chief Secretary of Maharashtra.
The government has appointed Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department, as the new Chief Secretary of the state. He officially took charge from outgoing Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik at the Chief Secretary’s chamber in the Mantralaya (state secretariat).
In a program held afterwards, Sujata Saunik and Commissioner of Medical Education Rajeev Nivatkar were felicitated with a shawl, bouquet, and memento on the occasion of their retirement by administrative officials and employees of the secretariat. Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar was also warmly welcomed with a shawl and bouquet. The event was attended by former Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik, Archana Rajesh Kumar (wife of Rajesh Kumar), and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar stated that during his tenure, priority will be given to working collaboratively with department secretaries to bring about positive changes in the lives of common citizens. He emphasized the need to ensure that public services are delivered locally, reducing the need for people to visit the Mantralaya. He pledged to accelerate the implementation of schemes across all departments to enhance governance efficiency.
Expressing hope for collective support, he said that Maharashtra, already a leader in various sectors, can reach even greater heights through innovative and exemplary work.
Governance Is an Opportunity for Public Service – Sujata Saunik
Outgoing Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik said, “There is no other state like Maharashtra. Maharashtra is more than a state—it is a philosophy, one that represents progress and innovation.” She added, “In such a state, governance is not about power, but about leadership and the opportunity to make a difference. I am grateful to the state government for giving me the opportunity to serve. I will continue to repay this debt of gratitude by contributing in new ways.”
She also thanked the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and the people of Maharashtra for entrusting her with the chance to bring about change in people’s lives.
Rajeev Nivatkar, expressing gratitude on his retirement, thanked the state government and all concerned departments for their cooperation.
