Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 97 Powers Rajasthan Royals to 47-Run Win Over SRH, Enter IPL 2026 Qualifier 2

Delhi, May 2026 : Rajasthan Royals (RR) delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 47 runs in the IPL 2026 Eliminator at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. With this emphatic victory, Rajasthan Royals have advanced to Qualifier 2, where they will face Gujarat Titans on May 29.

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals unleashed a batting storm, posting a mammoth 243/8 in their 20 overs, driven by a breathtaking innings from teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The young batter played one of the most destructive knocks of the season, scoring 97 runs off just 28 balls, falling just three runs short of a historic IPL century.

Suryavanshi dominated the SRH bowling attack from the outset, reaching his fifty in a blistering 16 balls, including eight towering sixes. His fearless stroke play dismantled the Sunrisers’ plans and sent the Mullanpur crowd into a frenzy. At one point, he appeared set to break the record for the fastest IPL century, but his innings ended when Praful Hinge finally dismissed him. His knock included 12 sixes and multiple boundaries, completely shifting the momentum in RR’s favour.

At the other end, Dhruv Jurel provided excellent support with a rapid 50 off 21 balls, striking 5 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Riyan Parag also contributed a quick 26 off 12 balls, ensuring the scoring rate never dipped. Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, Rajasthan maintained relentless pressure on SRH and fell just short of the 250-mark, finishing at 243/8.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a disastrous start. Jofra Archer struck early, removing Abhishek Sharma for a duck in just his second delivery. Although Ishan Kishan attempted to counterattack with a brisk 33 off 17 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, he too fell to Archer’s pace and precision.

Travis Head struggled for rhythm and was dismissed for 17, while RR bowlers Nandre Burger and Yash Raj Punja maintained tight lines to choke scoring opportunities. SRH continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, with Heinrich Klaasen and other key batters falling cheaply, further deepening their collapse.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora tried to revive the innings with some aggressive strokes in the middle order, but Ravindra Jadeja’s experience proved decisive. The all-rounder removed both batters in quick succession, effectively ending any remaining hopes of a Sunrisers comeback.

With wickets tumbling and required run rate soaring, SRH were eventually bowled out well short of the target, handing Rajasthan Royals a comprehensive 47-run victory.

The win not only highlighted RR’s explosive batting strength but also their disciplined bowling effort under pressure, setting up an exciting Qualifier 2 clash against Gujarat Titans.

Final Score: Rajasthan Royals 243/8 (20 overs) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs.
