Dr. Lalit K. Panwar Presents Tourism Development Roadmap Before NITI Aayog
Dr. Lalit K. Panwar, a specially nominated tourism expert to NITI Aayog, presented a detailed roadmap on Tuesday in New Delhi to boost tourism development across India. In his presentation, he emphasized the immense potential for developing tourism as a robust domestic industry and highlighted strategies to further accelerate growth in this sector.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Rajiv Gauba, a member of NITI Aayog and retired IAS officer. During the session, Dr. Panwar praised the visionary steps taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote Indian tourism on a global scale. Rajeev Thakur, Joint Secretary of NITI Aayog, was also present at the meeting.
Dr. Panwar, a 1979 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, has been instrumental in pioneering innovative initiatives to promote tourism in Rajasthan during his tenure as Tourism Secretary and Chairman of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC). His work gained national and international recognition.
Following his retirement, Dr. Panwar served as the Chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) from August 2015 to August 2017. Under his leadership, the commission achieved several significant milestones.
Notably, during his tenure, RPSC became the first institution in the country to introduce “on-screen marking” for evaluating answer sheets. This breakthrough method was so impactful that the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) personally visited Ajmer to observe and commend the system.
Dr. Lalit Panwar has also held key roles in the Government of India, including Secretary of Tourism and Chairman of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC).
