“Doctors Are Divine Representatives, Must Work in Spirit of Service” – Acharya Balkrishna

Seminar Highlights Harmony of Allopathy, Ayurveda & Yoga: “Ayurveda Is Our Ancient Healing System, Its Significance Can’t Be Denied” – Speaker Devnani

Jaipur : On the occasion of Doctors’ Day, a special seminar on the integration and harmony of Allopathy, Ayurveda, and Yoga was organized at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College on Tuesday. The event was chaired by Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Shri Vasudev Devnani, with Acharya Balkrishna, CEO of Patanjali Ayurveda, as the chief guest.

In his address, Shri Devnani emphasized that Ayurveda is India’s ancient system of medicine, with great sages like Charaka and Sushruta having contributed significantly to it. In modern times, figures like Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna continue to inspire the revival of Ayurveda. He stated, “Every day should be celebrated as Doctors’ Day. Doctors are angels on Earth. Medicine is not just a profession; it is a service that brings relief to the suffering.”

He urged doctors to work with social sensitivity and acknowledged the many challenges they face today. Stressing the importance of accessible healthcare, he mentioned the ideal ratio of one doctor per 1,000 population and highlighted efforts being made to achieve this. He also shared that land has been allotted for the establishment of an Ayurveda University in Ajmer, and a new satellite hospital has already begun operations. Shri Devnani also spoke of PM Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, underscoring the need for lifestyle changes to ensure both physical and mental well-being. He praised the impactful work being done by the Patanjali Research Foundation and Patanjali University in the fields of Ayurveda and Yoga.

Addressing the gathering, Acharya Balkrishna said, “Ayurveda is a profound system of medicine. Among the nine global healing systems – including Unani, Siddha, and Greek – Ayurveda stands as the most comprehensive.” He stressed that instead of rejecting Ayurveda, one must strive to understand its principles. Ayurveda and Yoga offer not only physical healing but also mental peace.

He asserted that doctors are representatives of the divine and should work selflessly, distancing themselves from the idea of medicine as a mere commercial enterprise. Further, he emphasized that preventing disease by addressing its root causes is more important than merely curing it. While Allopathy offers immediate relief, complete healing is often possible only through Ayurveda, he said.

Acharya Balkrishna also cautioned students against wasting time on social media, noting, “Knowledge is infinite. Make your mind resilient through struggle—it will spark new energy and growth.”

MLA Anita Bhadel highlighted the richness of Sanatan Indian culture, calling for renewed trust and belief in India’s indigenous systems of medicine. She said Baba Ramdev had reintroduced India to its ancient traditions and added, “Allopathy may treat the physical body, but mental peace comes through Yoga and meditation.”

The seminar was attended by Dr. Arvind Khare, Superintendent of JLN Medical College; Dr. Anurag Varshney, Head of Department at Patanjali Research Foundation, Haridwar; Dr. Salil Maheshwar, Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Yog Gram, Haridwar; and several medical students.
