National Lok Adalat resolved more than 8.31 lakh cases.
Raipur : The second National Lok Adalat was organized in the state of Chhattisgarh from the High Court to the Taluka level courts as well as the Revenue Courts. As per the final data sent by the total 605 benches constituted for the National Lok Adalat organized on July 13, awards worth Rs 230 crore 09 lakh 55 thousand 219 were passed by resolving a total of 8 lakh 31 thousand 848 cases, including 7 lakh 66 thousand 639 pre-litigation cases and 65 thousand 139 pending cases.
According to the information received from Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, Mr. Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, Chhattisgarh High Court-cum- Chief Patron, Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority inspected the proceedings of Lok Adalat by connecting with all the 23 District and Sessions Courts of the state through virtual mode and communicated and discussed with the Chief District Judges of all the districts and the presiding officers of other benches and took stock of the progress of Lok Adalat. He directed to encourage and guide for resolution of maximum number of cases.
During the inspection in virtual mode, the Chief Justice heard a case of District Court Raigarh where an elderly husband and wife were living separately due to domestic violence and during the Lok Adalat, they reached a settlement and agreed to live together. The efforts of the parties were appreciated by the Chief Justice and the couple was wished a happy life in future.
The Chief Justice also visited the two benches constituted in connection with the National Lok Adalat in the High Court Bilaspur and while reviewing the Lok Adalat proceedings, told the advocates and the parties to get their cases resolved through the Lok Adalat. It is
worth mentioning that on the initiative of the Chief Justice, for the first time in the history of Chhattisgarh state, all the Justices of the Hon’ble High Court also visited their portfolio districts and inspected the proceedings of the National Lok Adalat and encouraged the presiding officers, members and parties of the Lok Adalat to resolve as many cases as possible. The presence of the High Court Judges in their portfolio districts on the day of the National Lok Adalat will make the credibility of the Lok Adalat system transparent and reliable and will prove to give it a new height.
While the inspection of all 23 districts by the Chief Justice through virtual mode demonstrates the use of modern technology in judicial proceedings, this initiative of the Chief Justice will not only encourage the presiding officers, members and parties of the Lok Adalat but will also create confidence among the parties and provide more credibility and authenticity to the Lok Adalat.

Along with this, the Chief Justice has also thanked the presiding officers, Justices and members of the two benches of Lok Adalat constituted in the High Court. The Chief Justice has thanked all the respected Chief District Judges of the state and the presiding officers and members of all the benches constituted in the state in connection with the National Lok Adalat, all the judicial staff as well as all the paralegal volunteers, officers and employees of other departments and the parties and all the people who have directly or indirectly contributed in making this National Lok Adalat a historic success.
