CM Dhami: Rivers Are Not Just Water Sources, But Pillars of Our Civilizational Heritage
Addressing the River Festival at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that rivers are not merely sources of water, but have served as the foundation of social, economic, and religious life since ancient times.
As part of the event, a collective pledge was taken to maintain the cleanliness and purity of rivers—an initiative led by the Chief Minister to involve the public in river conservation. CM Dhami appealed to everyone to show the same reverence for rivers as they would for a mother, and to help keep them clean and pristine.
Marking the completion of four successful years as the Chief Servant of the State, CM Dhami offered ceremonial prayers at Brahmakund, Har Ki Pauri, invoking blessings from Maa Ganga for peace, prosperity, and progress in the state. He also prayed that the wishes of all devotees visiting Haridwar be fulfilled.
The Chief Minister emphasized that protecting and conserving rivers is essential to counter global challenges such as climate change and global warming. He urged citizens to treat rivers with utmost respect and contribute actively to their cleanliness.
The program witnessed a large gathering of devotees, who joined the Chief Minister in pledging not to pollute rivers and to ensure they remain clean at all times.
CM Dhami was warmly welcomed by Shri Ganga Sabha President Nitin Gautam, Chairman Krishan Kumar Sharma, Hospitality Minister Siddharth Chakrapani, and other dignitaries. The puja of Maa Ganga was performed with full rituals by Acharya Amit Shastri.
Also present on the occasion were former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, MLAs Madan Kaushik and Adesh Chauhan, Vice Chairman of the State Disaster Management Authority Vinay Ruhela, District Magistrate Mayur Dikshit, Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal, as well as a large number of public representatives, devotees, and respected citizens.
