Minister Jogaram Patel Emphasizes State’s Commitment to Sustainable Growth and Environmental Protection
A block-level plantation programme under the ‘Mukhyamantri Vriksharopan Mahabhiyan – Hariyalo Rajasthan’ was held on Sunday at Dundara village in Luni Panchayat Samiti, Jodhpur district, in the presence of Parliamentary Affairs, Law and Legal Affairs Minister Shri Jogaram Patel as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Patel stated that the double-engine government is committed to holistic and inclusive development. He highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan has introduced its first Green Budget, demonstrating the government’s firm commitment to environmental protection. The aim of the Green Budget, he said, is to help Rajasthan achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Shri Patel informed that under last year’s plantation drive, 7 crore saplings were planted. This year, the state has set an ambitious target of planting and nurturing 10 crore saplings, with the participation of every family in the state.
A Pledge for a Greener, Safer Future
“This campaign is not merely about planting trees, but about making a pledge for a greener and safer future for the coming generations,” Shri Patel said. He stressed that as the world grapples with climate change and environmental crises, it is imperative to increase green cover through tree planting.
Job Opportunities for Youth
The minister also spoke about employment initiatives, stating that 1.25 lakh government jobs are being provided to youth this year. He mentioned that the recruitment of drivers and Class IV employees, pending for years, is now underway. Additionally, all positions for nursing staff have been filled, and the recruitment of medical officers has been completed, with appointments to follow shortly.
Roads and Infrastructure Development
Focusing on infrastructure, Shri Patel noted that over ₹400 crore worth of road construction projects have been approved for the Luni region. He also announced the phased construction of Atal Pragati Paths in villages with a population exceeding 5,000.
‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ Appeal
He called upon villagers to support the campaign by planting ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’, and to take collective responsibility for transforming schools and public places into clean and green spaces.
