Prepare a Quality and Time-Bound Plan for Power Projects in Konkan: MoS Meghna Sakore-Bordikar
Mumbai : In an effort to strengthen and streamline the electricity supply in the Konkan region, Minister of State for Energy, Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, directed officials to prepare a high-quality and time-bound roadmap for all power-related works in the region. Her directives aim to ensure uninterrupted, efficient, and grievance-free power services to residents.
Speaking at a review meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan to assess the energy department’s functioning in the Konkan division, MoS Sakore-Bordikar emphasized the need to make the power distribution system more robust, particularly during the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival. She called on local officers to work on a war footing to prevent power outages during the festive season and to ensure that citizens face no inconvenience.
Minister Sakore-Bordikar further instructed that all ongoing works in each assembly constituency be clearly communicated to the respective local MLAs to ensure transparency and active participation. She also urged energy department officials to coordinate with public representatives to raise awareness about smart meters and to explain the benefits of the scheme to the public.
Given the increasing demand, she recommended the planning of new substations and expansion of basic infrastructure. She also stressed the need to increase manpower and to create a well-structured schedule for both maintenance and new projects in the power sector.
Minister of State for Home (Urban), Yogesh Kadam, present at the meeting, echoed the sentiment and emphasized that all repair and new works must be completed within a fixed timeframe with high quality. He reiterated the importance of ensuring a smooth power supply during Ganeshotsav and other festivals.
MLAs present at the meeting also shared specific power-related issues affecting their constituencies, calling for timely resolution and action.
