Champhai Rice Distribution Inspection
Champhai : A rice distribution inspection was carried out today by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pu K. Zorammuana and District Civil Supplies Officer (DCSO) Pu CC Sakhawliana under the supervision of the DCSO Office.
Addl. DC Pu K. Zorammuana emphasized the importance the government places on ensuring that people receive their entitled share of rice. He urged staff involved in the process to ensure that the rice is distributed in full quantity to beneficiaries through retailers. He also appealed to the retailers to be vigilant and distribute rice in accurate measures, cautioning the public to be aware of the correct quantity they are entitled to receive.
DCSO Pu CC Sakhawliana noted that when rice is not provided in full quantity, people are forced to pay more for rice in the open market. Since beneficiaries pay the full amount for properly weighed rice, retailers must ensure fair distribution. He stated that digital weighing scales must be used by all retailers to ensure accurate measurement. If digital scales are damaged, they must not be substituted with beam scales, and any damage should be promptly reported to the DCSO Office.
The inspection by the District Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department confirmed that retailers distributed rice using digital weighing scales to verify accuracy.
The inspection was jointly conducted with representatives from the Legal Metrology Department, Champhai District Consumer Union, and Retailer Association.
