Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his greetings to all devotees and organizers on the inauguration of the Shravan Mela 2025, organized by the Jageshwar Temple Committee. Participating virtually in the event on Wednesday, the Chief Minister conveyed his best wishes and lauded the cultural and spiritual significance of the fair.
He said that Jageshwar Dham is a symbol of the mythological and cultural heritage of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. The Shravan Mela, he added, is not just a religious event but also a living reflection of folk faith, traditions, and cultural values.
Highlighting the cultural revival under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, CM Dhami cited remarkable initiatives like the construction of Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the Mahakal Lok, and the reconstruction of Kedarnath and Badrinath Dhams as examples of this resurgence.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is committed to preserving and developing key religious sites of the Kumaon region under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission. He shared that Rs. 146 crore has been approved for the first phase of the Jageshwar Master Plan, and development projects for the second phase have also received approval.
He also announced developmental plans in Almora district, including a 40 km cycle track along the Kosi River, promotion of Sheetlakhet as an eco-tourism site, and development of Dwarahat and Binsar as spiritual tourism hubs.
Reiterating his commitment to making Uttarakhand a leading state, the Chief Minister mentioned that according to NITI Aayog, Uttarakhand ranks first in the country in terms of Sustainable Development Goals. He also pointed out that the state’s unemployment rate has dropped below the national average and that more than 24,000 youth have been provided with government jobs in the last four years.
To safeguard religious and cultural values, CM Dhami noted the enactment of a stringent anti-conversion law, introduction of the Uniform Civil Code, and initiatives like ‘Operation Kalnemi.’
The event was also attended by Union Minister of State Shri Ajay Tamta, MLA Shri Mohan Singh Mehra, Vice Chairman of the Temple Management Committee Shri Naveen Bhatt, District Magistrate of Almora Shri Alok Kumar Pandey, and Chief Development Officer Ramji Sharan Sharma.
