CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Reviews Game-Changer Projects of Public Works Department

Dehradun – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level review meeting on the Public Works Department’s (PWD) game-changer projects at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

During the meeting, CM Dhami directed officials to expedite all procedural aspects of the four-lane elevated road construction projects over the Rispana and Bindal rivers. He also instructed for accelerated work on the Dehradun Ring Road/Bypass from Asharodi to Mohkampur and the Utility Duct Policy.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to incorporate modern technology in road construction. He directed that bridges in poor condition be rebuilt or repaired on a priority basis. In landslide-prone areas, the CM called for the use of advanced methods such as geosynthetic retaining walls to ensure the roads are safe and durable.

He also reiterated the importance of running a continuous campaign to make roads pothole-free, and emphasized the expansion of road connectivity across the state, especially between Kedarkhand and Manaskhand regions.

Key Directives from the Chief Minister:

  • Develop a comprehensive strategy to improve road links from Dehradun to Haldwani, Delhi to Haldwani, and other major cities.
  • Fast-track work on alternate routes between Dehradun and Mussoorie to ease traffic congestion.
  • Expedite bitumen/tar layering works on all key roads.

Progress Report Shared by PWD Secretary

PWD Secretary Dr. Pankaj Pandey provided updates on key infrastructure projects:

  • Rispana Elevated Corridor (11 km) and Bindal Elevated Corridor (15 km):
    Feasibility and hydrological studies for Phase I are complete. Land acquisition planning and site demarcation are currently underway.
  • Dehradun Ring Road:
    Final alignment has been approved. Feasibility reports are complete, and a joint inspection with Indian Railways has led to the preparation of a rail diversion plan.
  • Dehradun–Mussoorie Connectivity Project:
    Feasibility report is complete, and geotechnical investigations have been carried out.
