MoU Signed Between RUHS and Koita Foundation to Launch Digital Health Foundation Course – Major Boost to Healthcare Services through Digital Training: Health Minister
Jaipur : In a significant step towards integrating technology in healthcare, an MoU was signed on Thursday between the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), Jaipur, and the Koita Foundation, Mumbai, to launch a Digital Health Foundation Course (DHFC) for medical students and healthcare professionals. The MoU was signed in the presence of Health and Medical Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar, with Mr. Harphool Pankaj, Registrar of RUHS, and Mr. Rizwan Koita, Co-founder and Director of Koita Foundation, serving as signatories.
This agreement aims to train students and healthcare workers in the use of digital tools and technologies, enhancing their efficiency and improving the overall quality of healthcare services.
Rajasthan Second in the Country for ABHA ID Creation
Addressing the event, Minister Khimsar stated that a new era of digital health has emerged globally, and Rajasthan is actively promoting digitization in the health sector. Under the Rajasthan Digital Health Mission, all healthcare services are being brought online in mission mode. Over 6.3 crore ABHA IDs (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) have already been generated in the state, placing Rajasthan second in India for digital health identity creation.
He further emphasized the importance of digitization in managing the state’s vast network of healthcare institutions. Over 12,000 health centers have been transformed into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, equipped with computers, laptops, LED screens, and teleconsultation facilities to ensure quality healthcare access in remote villages.
Improved Efficiency and Quality in Health Services
Through this MoU, young healthcare professionals will benefit from specialized digital health training, which will boost efficiency and significantly enhance the quality of services provided in hospitals and clinics.
Secretary of Medical Education, Mr. Ambrish Kumar, noted that such courses are vital for ensuring 24/7 quality healthcare services. Digital recordkeeping, the use of artificial intelligence, and better management in hospitals and diagnostic labs are key advantages. He highlighted the implementation of Queue Management Systems in major hospitals like Kanwatia and Jaipuria, with SMS Hospital in Jaipur set to follow soon.
RUHS Leading a New Era in Digital Health
RUHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Pramod Yewale explained that under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission and the National Health Policy, digital health services are being given high priority. The new Digital Health Foundation Course represents the beginning of a transformative era in Rajasthan’s healthcare education. He stressed that digital health is not just the future, but the need of the present.
Koita Foundation Director Mr. Rizwan Koita elaborated on the course, emphasizing the need to strengthen digital health education to drive digital transformation in India’s healthcare system.

The event was attended by Commissioner of Medical Education Mr. Iqbal Khan, Superintendent Dr. Mahesh Mangal, deans and heads of various departments, and other senior officials.

This MoU is a landmark initiative to integrate digital health into mainstream medical education and to strengthen India’s national digital healthcare infrastructure. The course includes modules on:
- Health Information Systems
- Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)
- Telemedicine
- Public Health Informatics
- Personal Health Technologies
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Designed by subject experts, the 13-module online course will also provide hands-on experience via a Virtual Digital Health Lab (DHL). The course has already received approval from the RUHS Academic Council.
With over 600 affiliated colleges under RUHS, the course will be accessible through the university’s website for students and healthcare professionals. Participants will receive certificates and academic credit points upon successful completion.
