CM Devendra Fadnavis Launches ‘Mission Bal Bharari’—India’s First AI-Enabled Anganwadi Project
Transformational Change for 40 Preschools in Nagpur Under ‘Mission Bal Bharari’; An Innovative Initiative by Nagpur Zilla Parishad
Nagpur – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today launched the ‘Mission Bal Bharari’ initiative, aimed at fostering early childhood imagination and learning through AI-based technology in Anganwadis (rural preschools). The program seeks to bridge the gap in services between urban and rural children, ensuring that the same quality of early education and trust enjoyed by urban children is extended to those in rural areas.
The inauguration of India’s first AI-powered Anganwadi took place at Metro Bhavan, with the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of State for Agriculture Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, MLAs Krishna Khopde, Pravin Datke, Sanjay Meshram, Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, CEO of Zilla Parishad Vinayak Mahamuni, and other dignitaries.
This is a unique pilot project, the first of its kind in India, where Anganwadi workers have received special training to effectively use smart tools and technologies. Under the leadership of CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, Nagpur Zilla Parishad has committed to establishing 41 more AI Anganwadis in the district. The core vision behind the initiative is to eliminate the rural-urban education divide and create a joyful, curiosity-driven learning environment for every child. Mahamuni expressed confidence that this mission will bring a historic transformation in early childhood education across Maharashtra.
The first AI-enabled Anganwadi in Vadhamna, Hingna Taluka, features VR headsets, AI-integrated smart dashboards, and interactive digital content to teach children rhymes, songs, and curriculum material. Remarkably, even premium private preschools do not currently offer such advanced facilities, making this a standout initiative.
