Central Government Approves Doubling of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Parbhani Railway Line
A New Era of Development for Parbhani and Marathwada – Minister Meghana Sakore-Bordikar
Mumbai : The Central Government has granted final approval for the doubling of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Parbhani railway line. Minister of State and Guardian Minister for Parbhani district, Meghana Sakore-Bordikar, hailed the decision as a major milestone not only for Parbhani but for the entire Marathwada region, calling it the fulfillment of a long-standing dream of its people.
The project has received sanctioned funding of ₹2,179 crore, as announced during the recent Union Cabinet meeting. Minister Sakore-Bordikar had persistently followed up on the project with the central authorities, which has now led to the green light for the 177-kilometer railway doubling project.
Doubling Will Boost Rail Traffic and Regional Growth
“This project will lead to increased train frequency between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani,” the minister noted. “It will benefit not just regular passengers but also farmers, traders, students, professionals, and industries across Marathwada. Improved rail infrastructure will significantly enhance the region’s connectivity,” she added.

Minister Sakore-Bordikar extended heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, crediting their support and follow-up as instrumental in securing this major infrastructure development for the region.
She emphasized that both PM Modi and CM Fadnavis have consistently prioritized Marathwada’s development and are committed to strengthening the region’s infrastructure. The approval of the railway line doubling is seen as a strong step toward unlocking Marathwada’s economic potential.
