CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s Key Decision for Pensioners – Health Department Empowered to Relax RGHS OPD Limits

Jaipur, Aug 2025 – Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government is committed to ensuring accessible and efficient healthcare services. In this direction, the government has amended the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) – 2021 for State Pensioners.

According to the notification issued by the Finance Department, the powers to increase the current annual OPD medicine limit of ₹50,000 and diagnostic tests limit of ₹5,000 under the RGHS for pensioners have now been delegated to the Medical & Health Department and the Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency (RSHA).

Under the new provisions:

  • For OPD medicines, the limit can be extended up to ₹2 lakh by the Additional CEO or Joint CEO (authorized by the Medical & Health Department) of RSHA.
  • For extensions between ₹2 lakh and ₹7 lakh, the RSHA CEO is authorized.
  • For amounts exceeding ₹7 lakh, the Medical & Health Department (Administrative Department) will be the approving authority.

Similarly, for diagnostic tests, the RSHA CEO is authorized to approve increases beyond the ₹5,000 limit. Earlier, the power to approve such increases rested with the Finance Department, but it has now been transferred to the Medical & Health Department.

This decision by the Chief Minister will make it easier for pensioners to obtain relaxations in OPD medicine and diagnostic test limits based on their medical needs. Pensioners can now apply for such relaxations online via the RGHS portal.
