Chief Minister Orders Ban on Construction in Disaster-Prone Areas

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday, issued directives to officials regarding disaster management and safety in the state. He instructed that landslide, avalanche, and other disaster-prone areas in the hill regions of the state be identified immediately so that preventive measures can be taken in advance to avert potential dangers.

The Chief Minister gave clear instructions that no new settlements or construction projects will be permitted in these identified sensitive locations. He further directed that all types of government or private construction along natural water sources, rivers, and streams will remain prohibited. Clear guidelines should be issued to all District Magistrates, and strict monitoring should be conducted to ensure compliance.

He warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against officials who violate these directives. Emphasising the importance of disaster preparedness, the Chief Minister stated that preventive measures must be prioritised and solid, effective steps should be taken in sensitive areas keeping public interest in mind.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Additional Director General of Police A.P. Anshuman, Special Secretary Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, and Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari.
