“Martyrdom for the Nation is a Matter of Pride”: Deputy CM Dr. Bairwa Unveils Statue of ITBP Martyr Subhash Chand Berwal in Shahpura
Jaipur, Aug 2025 : Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa on Sunday unveiled the statue of ITBP martyr Subhash Chand Berwal in Shahpura village of Losal area, Sikar district. On this occasion, Dr. Bairwa paid tribute to the extraordinary contribution and supreme sacrifice of the martyr, who continues to inspire not only Shahpura but the entire region.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Deputy CM Dr. Premchand Bairwa, Chairman of the State Soldiers’ Welfare Advisory Committee Prem Singh Bajaur, and Dholpur MLA Govardhan Verma. Together, they formally inaugurated the statue of Martyr Subhash Chand Berwal. Dr. Bairwa also met martyr’s widow Sarla Devi, father Kaluram Berwal, and other family members. As a mark of respect, the martyr’s widow and family were felicitated with a shawl during the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bairwa said, “Subhash Chand attained martyrdom while protecting the nation. We bow to his sacrifice. To lay down one’s life for the country is not only a matter of pride for the martyr’s family and village but for the entire nation.” He further added that the state government is continuously working for the welfare of local people and that such ceremonies foster unity and inspire society. He assured villagers that their demands, including the establishment of a government college in Shahpura and the operation of state roadways buses, will be addressed by the government.
Prem Singh Bajaur, Chairman of the State Soldiers’ Welfare Advisory Committee, said, “A soldier who sacrifices his life guarding the nation’s borders should be revered like a deity so that future generations too develop a deep sense of patriotism.” He emphasized the importance of education in today’s era, urging families to prioritize educating their children. He also informed that the state government is providing hostel facilities in Jaipur for martyrs’ widows and scholarships for their children.
The event was also addressed by Dholpur MLA Govardhan Verma and former Sikar MP Sumedhanand Saraswati.
Marking the martyr’s third death anniversary, the statue unveiling ceremony also witnessed a blood donation camp organized by villagers in his honor. The camp saw enthusiastic participation from youth, resulting in the collection of 341 units of blood.
