Chief Minister Chairs Meeting On Cm Rubber Mission

Aizawl, August 25, 2025: A meeting on the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission was held today at the CM’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma. The meeting was attended by Pu Lalthansanga, Minister for Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation, along with officials from the department and leaders of the Mizoram Rubber Society.

The discussions mainly focused on the implementation of the second phase of the CM Rubber Mission. It was noted that planting around 450 rubber saplings per hectare has not been very profitable for individual households. Therefore, the proposal was made to increase the planting density from 450 to about 600 saplings per hectare in order to make cultivation more viable and beneficial.

Participants also discussed that while farmers can only sell good-quality rubber, proper methods and awareness among cultivators are essential. They suggested that with the right approach, even average-quality rubber could fetch reasonable returns if supported with adequate planning and management.

The meeting also deliberated on a clear strategy for selecting Progress Partners to guide the initiative effectively.

As has been highlighted earlier, the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission is being implemented with financial support from NABARD as well as through Handholding funds. For the second phase of the mission, support is being arranged for 1,373 households under the Handholding component and 1,200 households under the NABARD component.
