CM Mann Deploys Helicopter for Relief Operations, Leads Entire Cabinet on Ground

Chandigarh, Aug 2025 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has turned this grave disaster into a united mission for relief and rehabilitation. The Chief Minister himself is reviewing ground conditions in flood-affected areas, while the entire Cabinet and administrative machinery are working round the clock. This is not just an emergency response, but a living example of a responsible and sensitive government that stands firmly with every Punjabi in times of crisis.

CM Mann visited flood-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Pathankot, where he not only met the victims but also assured every family that the Punjab Government would provide them relief under all circumstances. He issued strict instructions to officials that no negligence in relief and rescue work would be tolerated and that the safety of every life and property must be ensured.

Giving the highest priority to flood relief operations, the Mann Government has cancelled all leaves of officers and employees. The state administration has been directed to maintain round-the-clock monitoring at the grassroots level and ensure relief reaches every affected village. Each Cabinet minister has been assigned responsibility to remain in the field, keep a direct watch on the situation, and maintain constant communication with the people.

In a historic step, CM Bhagwant Mann has dedicated his personal helicopter for relief operations. This helicopter is being used to quickly evacuate stranded people from areas like Gurdaspur and Pathankot to safer locations. This shows that the government does not merely issue orders but stands on the frontline itself.

Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal and Food & Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak also visited affected villages, distributed relief material in coordination with the administration, and reviewed local arrangements. Every minister of the government, every district administration, every disaster relief unit — whether Army, BSF, NDRF or SDRF — is working with a single aim: to keep every Punjabi safe.

Due to the release of 1,10,000 cusecs of water from Ranjit Sagar Dam, the water level of the Ravi River has risen, flooding several villages. However, prompt relief efforts have already rescued over 70 people from Jaggochak Tanda in Gurdaspur, while a special operation was launched to evacuate a family stranded in Tash village of Pathankot.

The government has also ensured strong arrangements for relief camps and community kitchens (langars). Langar services have started at schools in Narot Jaimal Singh and Taragarh, while relief centers are being operated in villages such as Kheeri Khurd, Kathlour, Thuthowal, Bamiyal, Bani Lodhi, and Ferozepur Kalan. In Gurdaspur, Marada, Bahmani, Gahalri, and Gurdwara Shri Tahli Sahib have been converted into relief camps, fully equipped with medicines, food, and shelter.

CM Mann has already made it clear that farmers and affected families will receive full compensation after a special assessment (girdawari). The government’s stand is clear: no matter how big the crisis, every minister, every employee, and every resource of the Punjab Government will remain fully dedicated to public service.

The Chief Minister also appealed to people not to pay heed to rumors and to stay away from riverbanks and drains. He added that this is not a time for politics but for service — and the Mann Government has fulfilled this duty of service with full strength and commitment.

Today, as the entire country watches how one state government is engaged wholeheartedly in protecting its people during a disaster, the Punjab Government under Bhagwant Mann is emerging as a model of leadership and governance.
