North Vanlaiphai and Lungkawlh PMKSY Projects
Serchhip, Aug 2025: Under the leadership of Dr. Malsawmtluanga Fanchun, Project Director, officials of DRDO Serchhip inspected the ongoing PMKSY (Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana) projects at North Vanlaiphai and Lungkawlh.
Under the PMKSY scheme, projects are currently being implemented in these two villages. As part of the program, rainbow rooster chicks and their feed are also being distributed to the residents of North Vanlaiphai and Lungkawlh.
In Lungkawlh, 20 households have started pig rearing, and the pigs are already growing. At this site, they sell at the rate of ₹40 per kg, which helps households earn around ₹2,000 each.
In North Vanlaiphai, Self Help Groups (SHGs) supported by the project have taken up food processing activities, producing items such as anthur candy, khawmhma (traditional) sweets, and flavored water.
However, the PMKSY project is limited only to households that own land within the Zaua reserved forest area, and those without landholdings are not eligible to participate.
