Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Directs Acceleration of Pending Pune MHADA Redevelopment Projects

Local planning authorities instructed to approve MHADA layouts with proper roads and amenities, enabling case-wise individual or group redevelopment

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed that all local planning authorities in the state, including Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, should approve MHADA layouts with well-developed roads and adequate amenities, and accordingly facilitate case-specific individual or group redevelopment.

A review meeting on various issues related to the Pune Housing and Area Development Board was held at Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

During the meeting, Mr. Pawar conducted a detailed review of the pending MHADA redevelopment projects in Pune. He emphasized that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2.0, an ambitious scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government, must be implemented effectively. Affordable housing should be made available to the common people, and projects should be completed on time while ensuring construction quality, similar to the standards maintained in the redevelopment of Mumbai’s BDD Chawls, he directed.

Meetings to resolve local issues in Nere, Rohkal, and Shirur
Mr. Pawar further instructed that district collectors should hold meetings to resolve challenges faced during the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Nere (Mulshi taluka) and Rohkal (Khed taluka) in Pune district, as well as to address obstacles in MHADA projects proposed on land in Shirur taluka.

The meeting also discussed issues such as cancellation of the post office reservation in the MHADA layout at Kharadi, Pune, redevelopment and new construction on MHADA-owned land within Lonavala Municipal Council limits, and the inclusion of eligible members of the Ashok Housing Society in Dapodi under the scheme as per the 20% MHADA reservation, without conducting a separate lottery.

The meeting was attended by Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, Chairman of Pune Housing and Area Development Board; O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department; Asimkumar Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development (1) and Housing Department; Saurabh Vijay, Principal Secretary of the Planning Department; Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Secretary to the Deputy CM; Anil Wankhede, MHADA Deputy CEO; and Rahul Sakore, Chief Officer of MHADA Pune.

Additionally, Jitendra Dudi, Pune District Collector, and Navalkishore Ram, Pune Municipal Commissioner, joined the meeting through video conferencing.
