State-Level Committee Reviews International Border Security, Emphasizes Action Against Drug Trafficking

Jaipur, Sept 2025: Chief Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant said that the largest portion of India’s international border with Pakistan passes through Rajasthan. As a result, the responsibilities of Collectors and Superintendents of Police in border districts increase significantly. He instructed all border districts to regularly conduct NARCO Coordination Centre (ENCORD) meetings and coordinate with security agencies to review internal security, aiming to curb drone drops and illegal drug trafficking.

Shri Pant chaired a meeting of the State-Level Standing Committee at the Secretariat on Wednesday to review the security and surveillance of the international border. He emphasized that technical upgrades and adequate human resources must be ensured at border outposts, with no compromises allowed.

The Chief Secretary sought feedback from Collectors and SPs on the availability of CCTV cameras, anti-drone systems, and other surveillance resources. He instructed field surprise visits, night chowpals, and direct engagement with local communities. He also directed the promotion of the “Maanas” helpline to strengthen intelligence networks and prevent drug trafficking.

Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Shri Bhaskar Atmaram Sawant, instructed the use of advanced technology and resources to curb illegal drug trade and directed the preparation of DPRs for the procurement of CCTV cameras and anti-drone systems.

Director General of Police Shri Rajiv Kumar Sharma instructed SPs to conduct surprise field visits and intensive check operations in border districts. DGP (Intelligence) Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal provided updates on decisions from the previous meeting.

Joint Secretary of the Home Department, Shri Mahendra Khinchi, was also present. Collectors and SPs from Jaisalmer, Barmer, Ganganagar, Bikaner, and Phalodi, along with representatives from BSF, Customs, and other security agencies, participated via video conferencing.
