First Hearing Held on 189 Objections and Suggestions for Draft Wards of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation General Election 2025

Mumbai, Sept 2025: In connection with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) General Election 2025, a total of 492 objections and suggestions were received regarding the draft ward structure. Out of these, a hearing on 189 objections and suggestions was conducted today at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, General Jagannathrao Bhosle Marg, in front of the state government’s authorized officers.

The hearing was chaired by Shri Iqbal Singh Chahal, the authorized officer and Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Government of Maharashtra. Also present were BMC Commissioner and Administrator Shri Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. (Smt.) Ashwini Joshi, Special Officer (Election) Shri Vijay Balmwar, and other concerned officials.

For the BMC General Election, various stages have been scheduled. On 22 August 2025, the government issued a notification regarding the geographical boundaries of the draft wards. Citizens were invited to submit objections and suggestions between 22 August and 4 September 2025. A total of 492 submissions were received, and the hearing on 189 of these took place today.

Citizens can personally attend hearings on the draft ward structure on 11 September and 12 September 2025 at the same venue, Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, General Jagannathrao Bhosle Marg. The municipal administration has appealed to citizens to attend the hearings as per the notices sent to them.
