Knock of the Surya Ghar Scheme at the Abode of God
Shri Pitambara Peethadheeshwar Temple Shines Bright with PM Surya Ghar Yojana
Raipur, Sept 2025 : The Shri Pitambara Peethadheeshwar Temple in Sarkanda, Bilaspur district, is no longer just a center of devotion and faith. It has also become an inspiring example of self-reliance through solar energy. Under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Yojana, a 5-kilowatt solar panel has been installed here, illuminating the temple complex and filling devotees’ hearts with light.
Until recently, the temple committee had to bear heavy monthly electricity bills. With religious rituals, satsangs, and the daily influx of thousands of devotees, keeping the premises illuminated had become a challenge. But the Surya Ghar Yojana has completely erased this worry. Now the temple is no longer dependent on external electricity supply. Instead, it glows with free energy generated from sunlight.
As soon as the sun’s rays touch the solar panels installed on the temple’s rooftop, energy collection begins. This stored energy lights up the entire complex at night. When devotees come for evening darshan and find the temple radiant with oil lamps and solar-powered lighting, their faces beam with devotion and satisfaction.
The temple’s guardian and President of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti Dharma Samaj, Acharya Dr. Dinesh Maharaj Pitambara Peethadheeshwar, said that during his travels across India, he saw solar panels being used at many places, which inspired him to install them in the temple. He emphasized that this is not merely a scheme but a blessing. Just as the temple now shines with the rays of the sun, every household and institution should adopt it. He called it a historic step toward building a self-reliant India and protecting the environment.
Local residents also shared their inspiration, saying that seeing solar panels in the temple has encouraged them to consider installing solar systems in their own homes under the Surya Ghar Yojana.
This temple has now transformed into more than a place of worship. It has become a center for spreading the message of environmental protection and energy self-reliance. Its success has motivated nearby communities and institutions to connect with the Surya Ghar Yojana. The Prime Minister’s initiative has proven that the rays of the sun can illuminate not just rooftops but also strengthen faith and tradition.
The Sant Peethadheeshwar Temple of Bilaspur will continue to convey to future generations that when faith and science come together, the result is energy, light, and self-reliance.
